Sad news for June 2, 2010. Squeaky, one of the extremely emaciated cats found at the old nursery property on Rt 68, has passed away. Malnourished as he was, he still gave a good fight for survival and brought us many smiles. He was only in his foster home for a short time, but he will be greatly missed.
As of May 7, 2010 all chickens are off of Village property on Rt 68 in Yellow Springs. Have room for a rooster? We have several up for adoption. Send us an email to sponsor or adopt. Thank you!
This young lady came around the corner at the old nursery property on Rt 68 with her little chick in tow. We were all surprised at this discovery. Dutifully, she was rounded up and taken to foster. Momma Hen's very protective of her single chick. To her chagrin, her little one loves to explore. Be careful not to get too close to the chick, Momma will come rushing over ready to attack!

Not everyone is happy. The three younger geese would much prefer all the activity to just not happen and for the new chickens coming to their foster farm to go elsewhere.
These two girls and their gander have a clutch of eggs, and even though they never sit on them, they're very happy for the excuse to make extra noise and attack anyone who comes near. It's a good thing for us they won't team up with Momma Hen!
Cricket (right) is getting treatment for his dental woes, and is now permitted to wander the room instead of being confined to his cage. Now that it's become hot out he's happy to have air conditioning. This big boy never seemed to mind the outdoors, but now he's enjoying the safety and comfort of being inside.
Squeak (below) was showing improvement. Unfortunately the neglect he experienced was too much for his old body. He was a sweet boy and brought many smiles.
